Youth Ministry International (YMI), an international youth ministry training organization headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, has announced the hiring of Dr. Gary Almon as their new Chief of Staff.

Dr. Almon begins his ministry opportunities with YMI as of December 1, 2022. Along with various administrative responsibilities, his primary role will be to shepherd the personnel in the field and the office. He reports directly to the acting CEO.

Mark Roberts, Chairman of the Board, said, “Gary Almon brings many years of ministry experience both in youth and missions to the table. His career has been a great history of working with young people. He also has a past involvement with YMI, and the board is grateful that Dr. Almon has agreed to serve in this capacity to assist the organization and its people. We look forward to his work with YMI.”

Dr. Gary Almon holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, a Master of Divinity, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Christian Education. He has served as an elder and pastor for 35 years in Oklahoma, Kentucky and Indiana. He also served as a professor and adjunct for 12 years at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

During his time at Southern, Dr. Almon joined YMI as a visiting professor from 2005 to 2019, traveling each year to one of the YMI Centers for Youth Ministry in Asia, Mexico and Africa. Currently, Gary Almon is a small business owner and the CEO of a non-profit which targets ministry to youth who are struggling in the penal system. He and his wife Lanette have been married for 33 years and are the parents of five daughters. They also have three sons-in-law
and four grandchildren.
